Vikara stands for change with an eye on the future. Over the course of five decades, a small family business has grown into a specialist in the development and management of commercial properties. The word “Vikara” comes from Sanskrit and means transformation. We are committed to treating existing buildings with respect, which we transform into a diverse range of living spaces. We are also committed to renaturing areas.
In our transformation projects, we focus on making sustainable upgrades rather than tearing things down: Older properties are modernised with care and converted into multifaceted commercial spaces. Our philosophy is shaped by respect – for architecture, the environment and people. Many of our tenants have been loyal to us for decades and flourish alongside us: If you start small, you will find space to grow through our services. This is how we not only create spaces but also build up places with history, character and a future.

Sustainability

For us, sustainability means responsibility – toward buildings, people and nature. This is why we invest in environmentally friendly solutions for our commercial properties, including heat pumps, photovoltaic systems, modern insulation and energy-efficient LED lighting. We modernise buildings instead of replacing them and maintain our properties with the aim of preserving them for generations to come. Our renaturing projects show how we shape change: In Uitikon, Zurich, the greenhouses of an old nursery were dismantled, residential buildings modernised and spacious green spaces created – the result is a development known today as “Wohnen im Park” (or “Parkside Living”), which defines the village’s character. In Thailand, we transformed 50,000 m² of eucalyptus monoculture into a species-rich area with various fruit trees and near-natural vegetation.

This is proof of Vikara’s commitment to the future-oriented transformation of living spaces that conserves resources, improves quality of life and restores the connection between nature and day-to-day life.

Safety

The safety and well-being of the people in our properties are our top priority. This is why many of our buildings are equipped with state-of-the-art locking systems and overseen by a security company that ensures everything is under control and in order at night. Bright entrance areas, well-lit corridors and cameras at the entrances also create a safe environment – even during night hours.

Clear signage helps people find their way around and navigate the premises with ease at all times. There are also plenty of parking spaces right outside the building along with convenient public transport links, making it easy and safe to arrive and depart.

These facilities help turn our properties into living spaces where work, creativity and leisure can thrive in a trusting environment. .
